In the Jewish faith this is the month of a solemn holiday, one of repentance and forgiveness..I wrote this small piece about the power of gratitude.
I try and remember to live these words every day.
Gratitude is a power.
Find something in your life for which or whom you are grateful.
Gratitude is grace in the face of harshness. It does NOT ignore disappointment or cruelty, or truth, but it amplifies and elevates the spirit.
It empowers the soul because it focuses on goodness and enriches life’s experience.
Gratitude is not a blind naiveté, it is a choice to live a life with an acceptance that life isn’t always fair, or kind, but ultimately just.
If you hate your job, be grateful you have one.
If you are short on friends, remember friendship isn’t measured in quantity, but quality.
If you lose someone, be grateful for the times you had with them.
Gratitude will not put a dime in your pocket or food on your table.
But it can make you feel richer and more nourished.
Gratitude is a strength.
Gratitude is a power.
Now start thinking not what it is that you don’t have…but what it is that you DO have.
Gratitude gives you grace and fluidity and gives life meaning and depth.
And gratitude is always wise.
