I want to salute and honor the brave men and women who are risking their lives battling the most horrific fires in California history and some of the worst fires this nation has seen or will ever see.
It’s what we have to and should do.
Respect, honor, and thank them.
Because these first responders are working 18-19 hour shifts and are exhausted and without a lot of backup and support on their shifts.
Jumping on a helicopter in the blackness of night, is perilous and fraught with danger.
Even trucks equipped with the tools and machinery are still put into severe danger.
And some of that bravery is also in reporting this tragedy in midst of danger and peril.
My family, my friends, and people I don’t know are in mortal danger. Though there have been 5 fatalities in the last day or so, that number is sure to rise, and so will the devastation and loss of property and structures.
It will take years to rebuild. But remember this. We will NEED thousands of workers, many of them both documented and undocumented to help rebuild LA. We will need raw materials . Steel. Iron. Lumber. and a thousand other imported materials. If we have huge tariffs and mass deportations the rebuild will take years and be so expensive it will also be a long, uphill, and drawn out rebuild.
But right now, we can only focus on what is in front of us. And it is a grim reality.
I just want to honor the people working for our safety and fighting the terrible elements and obstacles.
We should never forget what they are doing and have done.
These people are heroes and need to be honored for their incredible selflessness and courage.
My God, what a horror this is.
