As many people scramble this week in preparation for Christmas, it should not be forgotten as to what the true meaning is of this special day. And, please, NEVER be ashamed of wishing fellow Christians a Merry Christmas. It’s a time of joy for us, as we celebrate the birth of our savior and open our hearts to all.
As the great English writer and social critic, Charles Dickens, wrote, “I will honor Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year.”
And lest we forget the meaning of gift-giving. I pray that those of you with children have explained to them that this tradition is symbolic of the presentation of the gifts by the Three Wise Men to the infant Jesus.
Remember, without Christ, there is no Christmas.
I also pray that you are able to enjoy Christmas with family and those you love because, as the years pass, you’ll realize that Christmas has a way of inspiring reflection. I guarantee, moments shared on this special day will become cherished memories when you’re older.
With that said, for those of you lucky enough to be sharing Christmas this year with parents and grandparents, understand that their joy comes from the time they’re spending with you. So, please, cherish their presence for as long as you can, as one day when they’re gone your memories of them during Christmas will not only bring a smile to your face, but it will also evoke sadness from their absence.
Therefore, be sure to hold every family Christmas gathering near and dear to your heart.
Merry Christmas!
